“Recently we have been in the process of our son going to a supported living accommodation run by Highbury Services. Unfortunately, very soon after his visits started my husband was diagnosed with cancer and had to start an aggressive course of treatment, this meant that the move for our son would have to go forward at a much quicker pace.
This was an extremely stressful and worrying time for us all, however, the staff at Highbury Service went above and beyond to ensure that everything went as smoothly as possible for both our son and us all as a family. This included staff co-ordinating the move as well as the staff working at the accommodation.
It has meant so much to us all as a family that we all had support and understanding at this very difficult stressful time, and has meant that after a shorter period than originally anticipated, our son is happy and settled in his new home and we have the peace of mind that he is cared for whilst we are going through a challenging time.”
“My daughter has spina-bifida and hydrocephalus, she also uses a wheelchair to get around. She started Highbury Support Services in 2013. Over the years she has progressed both in her social skills and learning ability.
She does life skills and cooking at Highbury. She feels very confident whilst she is there and feels she can talk to all the staff, from office to support about any concerns she may have. Staff are very easy to talk to and listen to any issues. It is a very friendly place. She loves to have a laugh and joke with staff and other service users.
I have no concerns about the care she receives at Highbury which is always of a very high standard.”
“We would like to say how helpful we have always found Highbury Services to be. From time to time we have issues with J that spill into his time there, and the staff have always listened sympathetically and helped him to be confident and happy during his time at the centre.
After a break from the centre, he is always reluctant to go back, but he comes home happy and excited about what he has done that day and excited to go in there the next. His time within the centre is usually very positive and he comes home very proud of what he has cooked or happy to show us what he has worked on. He seems to like all the staff which is a huge bonus, and when we have asked for extra time off for holidays or when we have had to phone the centre with a problem it is always sorted out quickly and easily.
They support the parents as well as the service users which is exactly how it needs to be for us all. We welcome the good relationship that there is between the Highbury staff and all of us.”
“I like going to the Glyndwr centre, Highbury Care. I have many friends and staff are very kind and help with anything I struggle with. I have learned a lot from going there. Some staff are funny and I laugh and joke with them. I like going there”
“I enjoy cooking with the staff and working as a team I love having lots of laughs with them”
“As a parent, I have the greatest of confidence that my daughter, S, is in safe, secure and caring hands with Highbury Support Services. Through their quality care and support along with their person-centred approaches and the most amazing staff team, S continues to blossom and is truly living her life to the full. I can’t thank them enough for the positive difference they have made, not only in S’s life, but in her family’s life too.”
“I’ve worked for Highbury Support Services for nearly 20 years.
